Furloughs and sentences

Well, I guess my positive thinking didn't pay off. We get a 10% pay cut for the next 1.5 years thanks to having a rich, actor for a governer who doesn't have any guts to raise taxes on his rich friends, so instead he asks the state workers to take a double hit. Somehow we'll manage...we have no other choice anyway.... I really wish we could tell the preschool we need to reduce their bill by 10%, and the HOA dues too, all of which have gone up substantially just in time for a nice pay cut. And of course this is the slowest time of year for UPS too, so Robb's checks are nothing like they were over the holidays.

On a positive note, Alani may finally be well from this sickness she's had for almost a week. Nothing like paying for a week of preschool but having to stay home with the kids and burn a bunch of sick leave. Well I did have fun with them, although I'd rather spend the time at shome when they're actually healthy and happy instead of sick and screamy....

Alani's words are turning into mini sentences. It's so cute. She's almost 22 months. She told Kawai yesterday "Vai, mommy car" when she saw me in the car. She has words for most of the foods we eat, items of clothes, type of shoe she wants to wear (cok for croc, or boots). She's way into pockets. Don't you dare give her a jacket without pockets to put her hands in, or she'll throw a fit.

For the past couple of months we've been watching her in amazement as she's been potty training herself. Literally. We haven't done much at all, except run her upstairs to the bathroom when she insists on "go potty". She even removes her diaper, gets on the potty herself, does her thing and wants to pour it into the toilet and wash it too. No sticker charts needed for this girl....

Hula demo

Robb and the girls did a hula demo today at the dance center's open house.

It was cute watching Mana saying the chant. She's the littlest one but knows all the words.

The keiki danced Kawika with some of the adults.

Ono Zippy's Chili

Well, he didn't win the chili contest this year (last year he got 2nd) but I still say it was some 'ono chili!!!

New sleeping bags from Heaven

Thanks Kaspers for the sleeping bags for the girls. Can you tell they love them? Mana sleeps in hers every night now.

Barrier Canyon Rock Art?

I've been meaning to post some of Mana's artwork. Lately it's really been reminding me of the Barrier Canyon Rock Art style of southern Utah. These aren't the best examples of how similar her style is, but these are some cute fairies that she did. She told me the one on the left is Fawn, the middle one is Queen Clarion, and on the right we have Tinkerbell.

This is one of the famous rock art panels, called The Great Gallery:

The Rockers

Cool shrine, eh? We didn't build it though.

My nature girls wouldn't leave the mountain. Especially Alani. She refused to get back into the car, and started hiking up the hill by herself.

Ahhhhh, summer....oops I mean winter

Weekend with the Kois and Tulafales

Why did we leave beautiful 70 degree sunny weather in SLO on New Year's to spend the weekend in cold, windy, raining, foggy Sacramento? Well, the company was worth it. And so was the food.
Amazing, all the kids are looking at the camera! Of the seven kids, the oldest is 6.
Kawai and Mana were all over Lina this weekend. Mana and Lina are only 6 weeks apart. We had to do a double-take when we saw Moana. She reminded the girls of their Tutu. Even when she talks.
