Diaries of a working mom
When I told Mana I saw this picture on the blog and liked it, she happened to be using her magnetic drawing board and immediately instructed me to draw a Queen Mermaid (easy enough), then a Princess Mermaid (just had to alter the crown slightly) and then an Owl Mermaid (made sure to do big eyes). All of these drawings seemed acceptable after her close scrutiny, but she did call me on the fact that the Queen Mermaid didn't have hands, and she wasn't too sure about the Princess Mermaid's crown (neither was I but there's only so much you can do with a giant magnet pen on a 4 x 4 inch board.)Thankfully Kawai came to my rescue upon Mana's final request, "Auntie, draw a Turtle Mermaid." I think Kawai noticed the blank stare on my face while I tried to contemplate the anatomy of such a creature, and she happily grabbed the board and did a wonderful job executing Mana's request. The key was to put the turtle shell above the mermaid's tail...not sure I would have been able to do that.
Your girls are talented artists. I love looking at their drawings.
