Kawai's first swimming lessons

Kawai is so excited to start her first real swimming lessons at Sinsheimer this week! Mana is excited too, but not quite as comfortable as Kawai is. Today Kawai got to jump from the diving board, she was very proud.

Newest creations

I made my first t-shirt, patterned after my favorite Old Navy maternity t-shirt that they don't seem to carry anymore. Yes, I'm very much a novice. I sewed the arm holes shut once, I sewed one of the sleeves upsidedown, and finally, trimmed them to match, luckily they weren't too short. The original sleeves were more standard t-shirt length. But in this weather, I think I'm glad I messed up.
We had let Kawai buy this Love tree scarf that she loved from the $2.00 store in Solvang above the crazy 99 cent fabric store. All 3 girls love this scarf so much, and luckily I realized I had bought some similar jersey material from there for my tshirt. Here is my attempt to make Mana her scarf, copying the Love Tree. Stenciling is way harder on this type of fabric I found out.

Avila pier

The girls didn't fish, but we did see a cute seal swimming below. I hope it wasn't the same seal that later washed up on the beach with it's head chomped off by a shark.

Hula camp

Kawai and Mana had so much fun this week in hula camp. They learned 3 new dances in one week. They are wearing funny hats in this dance because they are dancing the song "Kaleponi Hula" which is about a guy oging to California and brings back a hat and other things for his future wife. As usual, Mana was the youngest in class, but does so well. And Kawai has really caught on well at this point too. Thanks to the kumu for a great week.

My first niece is born!!!

At work yesterday my sister started feeling some contractions at about 2:30. We had no idea that by 9 pm the baby would be born. My sister worked a full day of work, went home, at 7:30 they dropped Lance off at our house, went in to French Hospital at about 8:15 and the nurse helped deliver HALEY at 8:51 before the midwife arrived. She was 5 days early, weighing in at 6 pounds 14 ounces and 20 inches long. We are so happy she is here!!!!
Lance had fun with his cousins for his first sleep over last night, but kept asking for mommy daddy.

I found this picture on our camera - some little hands took this. I thought it looked cool altered.

The girls had such a fun time at Malia's party! Thank you guys for a great party! Avila hotsprings is so much fun. Check out the girls with all their goodies. Don't they look like cute little baby clowns? (And no, those aren't pacifiers, they are candy rings).

Paisley sorcerer

Kawai loves paisley. She picked out this retro brown/orange paisley fabric when we went to Solvang on Friday to the 99C fabric store. Then I opened my cute little hippie sewing book which has inspired me to try to sew clothing for the 1st time. Kawai picked out the "sorcerer top" and I attempted my 1st shirt ever. And it fits her!! Kawai loved it so much she wore it on 4th of July even though it's not the right colors. She says it's her favorite shirt.

Fun on the 4th

Mini parade at church activity. Delicious pancakes too.

Thanks to DW for the pictures. And for giving the girls surfing lessons.
